witnessed on Friday, w Aussie-yen supply and a decline in base-metal prices
placed the Aussie on the defensive.
*After initially climbing higher to $0.8073 (bbg) $0.8080 (rtrs) on Aussie yen
demand, broad-based dollar strength then took hold, with stronger US rate yields
 leading the advance. Aussie eased to $0.8044, recoveries were then held to
$0.8055. Another bout of dollar strength saw the Aussie fade to $0.8033
* For the balance of the session the Aussie consolidated, the pair holding a
$0.8039 to $0.8052 ahead of the opening of European markets
*It is a quiet start to the week with no major data releases in the calendar for
today.
