The seventh vote for Speaker of the House of Representatives has seen no change in the balance of voting.

  • Breakdown of the final ballot with 218 votes needed to win: Rep Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) 201, Rep Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) 212, Rep Byron Donalds (R-FL) 19, Others (Donald Trump) 1, Present 1.
  • Conservative Republicans have accused Kevin McCarthy of leaking the content of overnight negotiations.
  • Rep Scott Perry (R-PA) who cast his ballot for Donalds tweeted: "A deal is NOT done. When confidences are betrayed and leaks are directed, it’s even more difficult to trust. Totally unsat. I will not yield to the status quo."
  • An eighth ballot will take place shortly unless McCarthy can successfully push for an adjournment.
