Shell Sign 20 Year Deal to Buy LNG from Canada's Ksi Lisims Project

Shell Plc signed a 20 year deal to buy 2m metric tons a year of LNG from a Canadian floating export facility for supply to Asian markets according to Bloomberg.

  • The first binding agreement for the proposed 12m tonnes per year Ksi Lisims project would be lifted on a free-on-board basis by Shell Eastern Trading Pte Ltd. The project in British Columbia is yet to reach full investment decision but could be ready by 2030.
  • Ksi Lisims LNG project is backed by an alliance among the Nisga’a Nation, Rockies LNG and Western LNG.
  • Shell is already a majority stakeholder in the 14m tons LNG Canada which is 85% complete and preparing for safe start-up activities to begin in 2024 as the first major exporter in British Columbia.
