Siemens’ CEO is urging the EU to significantly simplify the bloc’s environmental regulations in order to boost the competitiveness of European firms, Siemens CEO Christian Bruch told the FT. 

  • “Just making cosmetic changes to regulations will not move us one inch closer to becoming more competitive,” Bruch said.
  • Bruch targeted the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive that requires firms to detail their environmental and social impact.
  • The EC is planning to review the reporting requirements amid increasing criticism.
