Slow Start As Region Gears Up For Chinese PMIs

AUD has garnered some strength in a tight start to the Asia-Pac session, with markets in the waiting mode ahead of the release of China's PMI surveys. Regional data published so far failed to provide any meaningful market impetus.

  • USD/JPY sits comfortably within the confines of Thursday's range, although it's a Gotobi Day today. Japan's data deluge brought solid beats in flash industrial output & unemployment, while Tokyo CPI missed forecasts at the margin.
  • Aforementioned Chinese PMI data provide the main highlight of the Asia-Pac session. Later in the day, focus turns to GDP reports from Canada, Germany, Italy, France & EZ as well as U.S., PCE data & MNI Chicago PMI. Fed's Kaplan is due to speak.
