STOCKS: Solid enough corporate earnings results from the U.S. tech sector,
released after hours on Wednesday, supported broader risk appetite in Asia-Pac
hours, building on the positive news re: Gilead's remdesivir, that did the
rounds on Wednesday.
- This left the major regional equity indices bid, although liquidity was
diminished, with Hong Kong & South Korea observing holidays, and thinner desks
likely evident in Tokyo.
- Continued Sino-U.S. sabre rattling from U.S. President Trump briefly applied
some pressure, pushing the S&P & DJIA e-minis into negative territory before
they recovered.
- Elsewhere, worth flagging that ANZ deferred its dividend decision, as loan
provisions surged.
- Nikkei 225 +2.8%, CSI 300 +1.1%, ASX 200 +2.2%.
- S&P 500 futures +106, DJIA futures +12, NASDAQ 100 futures +63.
