Steady ahead of a busy week

BOND SUMMARY

A fairly subdued session to start the week, which isn't too surprising given no tier 1 data scheduled for the day, and a fairly busy week ahead.

  • Brexit, Fed and BoE.
  • EGBs and core Bund have held onto their gains, despite indices better bid, underpinned.
  • Risk sentiment has been positive overnight given news that vaccine trials are set to resume, but Equities are off the highs of the session, and volumes are dominated by rolling positions into Dec, with expiry Friday.
  • Semi core are outperforming Germany, and as such are tighter, Greece leading at 1.9bps, 156.3bps in the spread versus the German 10yr.
  • Gilts have held into a 30 ticks range, 136.56-136.86 (low/high).
  • Focus here, is on MPs voting as late as 22.00BST on the second reading of the bill.
  • US Treasuries have continued trading within the Asian session range, and sits close to flat, up 1 tick at the time of typing.
  • All attention here, is on the FOMC this week, while still keeping an eye on the fiscal situation on the Hill in DC which seemingly remains gridlocked.
