Still On BoJ Watch

BOJ

We are still waiting for the latest BoJ monetary policy decision. A quick reminder that the Nikkei suggested that the BoJ will remove the reference to COVID from its forward guidance in an article released earlier today (this wouldn’t provide a meaningful surprise). We remind you that there is no fixed time for the decision, which typically comes after the start of the Tokyo lunch break for equities (11:30 Tokyo/03:30 London). We are obviously well beyond the start of that window, with a longer period of time elapsing between the start of the lunch break and the decision release being historically linked to policy/rhetoric tweaks (adding credence to the Nikkei report re: forward guidance).
