Strikes At Chevron’s Facilities Risk 3.02bcm/month of LNG Supply

Industrial action at Chevron’s Wheatstone and Gorgon LNG facilities could reduce global LNG supply by around 3.02bcm/month, equal to around 6.62% of global LNG supply, based on July numbers according to S&P Global, Platts, Wood Mackenzie and JP Morgan Commodities Research.

  • Union members at Chevron’s Gorgon and Wheatstone downstream LNG facilities voted in favor of industrial action in a ballot that closed on Thursday. A ballot of workers at the firm’s Wheatstone platform is still ongoing.
  • An industrial action notice has to be issued with seven-day notice and strikes have to start within a 30-day period from the vote.
