Summit Involving Israeli, Saudi, Egyptian Leaders Underway-Kann

A number of outlets reporting that a tripartite summit in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt is underway involving Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Israeli PM Naftali Bennett.

  • Such a meeting would be demonstrative of the major shifts in political relations in the Middle East in recent years. Following the signining of the Abraham Accords in 2020, there have been efforts to bring Saudi Arabia and Egypt into the fold in having diplmomatic links with the state of Israel, alongside the UAE and Bahrain.
  • Anshel Pfeffer tweets: "...Naftali Bennett is now in Egypt for a 3-way summit with Sisi and MBZ. Meanwhile there are preparations afoot for a possible trip to Kyiv to mediate between Zelenskyy and Putin...."
