Survey Data Point To Continued Labour Market Tightness

The CSOB's Business Expectations Index survey from over the weekend revealed that 73% of Czech companies are planning to keep the number of their workers steady next year, with 21% expecting to hire more employees and 6% looking to reduce their headcounts.

  • CSOB commented that "Czech companies remain optimistic about employment," with "more than a quarter of [SMEs] planning to increase the number of employees in 2023," but the lack of suitable candidates for vacant jobs remains a persistent problem.
  • Data published last week by the Czech Statistical Office showed that business confidence indicator slipped this month amid a deterioration in sentiment among entrepreneurs across all sectors save for construction.
