Swiss Hydro Stocks Fell Sharply

Swiss hydropower reserves fell by 7 percentage points last week to 64.3% of capacity as of 15 January, BFE data showed.

  • Stocks declined by 1.4 points the week prior.
  • The surplus to the five-year average narrowed to 6.9 points, from 9.6 points the week prior. Reserves also remained well above the long-term average since 1997 at 11.7 points, down from 15 points the week before.
  • Swiss hydropower output declined last week. Production from pumped storage fell by 217MW to 1.36GW, Ensto-E data showed.
