Tanker Arrival and Feedgas Increase Signal Freeport Restart

An LNG tanker arrived at Freeport in Texas on Saturday, the first in 11 days according to LSEG.

  • The arrival of LNG tanker BW Pavilion Leeara signaled a potential restart in coming days of one of the facility three gas-processing trains.
  • The facility has been impacted by a series of outages and all units were recently out of service for maintenance – impacting US LNG exports this year.
  • The last LNG tanker at Freeport was April 9 – shortly before a unit tripped.
  • Electricity consumption at the Freeport began to rise April 20, while feedgas increased April 21, indicating that liquefaction operations were starting, according to a report from Wood Mackenzie.
