Tankers Waiting Offshore Nigeria Due to Force Majeure

Three crude oil tankers have waited offshore Nigeria as long as 12 days after force majeure on loadings due to industrial action according to Bloomberg.

  • Exxon Mobil’s crude units in Nigeria declared a force majeure notice on crude liftings from multiple terminals on 17 April because of strike action.
  • Staff withdrew service on 13 April in a dispute over pay and conditions, according to the Pengassan union
  • Nigerian crude oil production was 1.517mbpd in March according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
