TAP Pipeline To Start Capacity Expansion

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline will start expanding capacity as the first bidding phase of a market test has been completed, the company said.

  • TAP will now trigger the first level of expansion and allocate 1.2bcm of incremental capacity per year through long-term contracts starting from 2026.
  • The initial pipeline capacity can be expanded to at least 20bcm per year.
  • TAP’s expansion capacity is offered through regular market tests. The second bidding phase is expected this year.
  • The pipeline transports natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe via Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea and Italy.
