Texas and Louisiana Gas Demand Supported by LNG Export Growth

NATGAS

LNG export growth from Texas and Louisiana have been supported by supply growth from both the Haynesville and Permian regions but Northeast supply growth hasn’t resulted in similar LNG export growth other than Cove Point.

  • Demand in the Gulf Coast states of Louisiana and Texas grew by 116%, or 16.0 Bcf/d, driven largely by increased LNG feedgas demand for LNG exports according to EIA.
  • Northeast supply growth has been limited by difficulty of building all types of infrastructure including pipelines and LNG export terminals according to Wood Mackenzie.
  • The addition of LNG exports projects of Plaquemines, Corpus Chirsti stage III and Golden Pass on the Gulf Coast are expected to boost demand further in the coming years.
