Thailand May Consider Waiving Quarantine Requirements For Vaccinated Visitors

USD/THB trades flat at THB30.030 at typing, with bulls looking to take out Feb 22 high of THB30.045 before targeting Feb 5 high of THB30.132. Bears keep an eye on Feb 22 low of THB29.960, followed by Feb 15 low of THB29.842.

  • Thai Customs Dept released its monthly trade report yesterday. Trade balance turned negative on the back of a miss in exports growth and a slightly milder than exp. decline in imports.
  • PM Prayuth signalled that his gov't might consider waving the two-week quarantine requirement for foreign visitors who are vaccinated against Covid-19 to revive the embattled tourism industry.
  • The cabinet gave a nod to a revised debt management plan, allowing for additional THB74.4bn in borrowing to help fight the consequences of the Covid-19 outbreak.
  • The first batches of Covid-19 vaccines from Sinovac Biotech & AstraZeneca were expected to arrive in Thailand this morning.
  • Focus turns to Thailand's M'fing Production Index & BoP report, due Thursday.
