DOLLAR: The DXY peaked at 97.70 in NY yesterday, before drifting into the close.
The downtrend extended through Asia and holds toward the base of its 97.38-54
range.
- Up trendline support off the Apr 2018 lows comes in today at 97.11, expect
support behind around the 97.00 level, ahead of the 100-dma at 96.69. Resistance
seen at 97.70/74 from the May high & 50% retracement of 98.33-97.14.
- Broad-dollar weakness has seen Gold consolidate above $1282, held to a narrow
$3 range. Resistance is seen at $1287.32/1288.51 which represents the May 1 high
& 50% retracement level of $1310.67-1266.35. Above here opens a run at the
100-dma at $1295.16.
- WTI & Brent hover around settlement levels at writing after the benchmarks
gave back Monday's post-settlement gains.
- Quiet on the US calendar today with speeches scheduled from Dallas Fed Kaplan
(1100GMT) & Fed's Quarles (1535GMT).
