FOREX: The USD dipped alongside the Wall St. open, as the DXY briefly showed
below the 100-DMA for the first time since late Sep, before it recouped all lost
ground as equities rallied.
- The strong showing from U.S. equity markets dented demand for JPY, allowing
USD/JPY to close above Y112.00, registering a fresh high late on as U.S. stocks
benefitted from a bumper Netflix earnings report.
- GBP traded well following stronger-than-expected UK wage data, prompting a
show above $1.3200 for GBP/USD, but the pair failed to hold above the figure
into the U.S. close as the USD recovered & negative Brexit headlines clouded the
outlook (albeit with markets exhibiting some headline fatigue).
- Focus Wednesday turns to UK inflation data, U.S. building permits and the FOMC
Sep MonPol meeting minutes, as well as the heavily awaited Brexit summit.
