Tight Start Sees AUD, JPY Extend Overnight Moves

It has been a tight start to the Asia-Pac session, with markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan set to re-open after a holiday. Little to write home on the latest headline flow, with the region mulling hawkish Fedspeak from Tuesday.

  • The Aussie dollar has crept higher this morning, as cash ACGB sold off in early Sydney trade, tracking the overnight move in U.S. Tsys.
  • The yen is among the worst G10 performers amid renewed awareness of growing policy divergence between the Fed and the BoJ.
  • China's Caixin Services PMI and German factory orders take focus on the data front today. Comments are due from Fed's Harker, ECB's Lane & de Guindos, RBA's Bullock & Kent and Riksbank's Floden, with FOMC due to release the minutes from their March monetary policy meeting.
