Top Officials to Hold Security Talks in Iraq

  • Foreign Minister Fidan, Defence Minister Guler and National Intelligence Organisation chief Kalin will meet with the Iraqi Foreign Minister in Baghdad today for “security-oriented consultations”, Turkey's foreign ministry has said. President Erdogan is also expected to visit Iraq in the coming weeks, which would mark his first visit to the country since 2012.
  • President Erdogan will deliver a speech via video link to a rally of his ruling AKP party later today ahead of the local elections on Mar 31. There are no major economic releases left on the docket today.
  • Turkey’s home sales rose 17.3% y/y in February versus -17.8% in January, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute, marking the first year-on-year increase since July 2023. Foreign nationals bought 1,846 units, down 44.9% y/y, with top buyers from Russia, Iran and Iraq.
