Tortue LNG Project May Be Delayed Until 2Q24

BP’s planned 2.5mtpa first phase of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim LNG development on the maritime border of Senegal and Mauritania is likely delayed to 2Q24, from 2023 initially scheduled, Kosmos Energy said, cited by Reuters.

  • The floating production storage and offloading for the project is on the way to the field and is expected to arrive in 1Q24.
  • BP last week said that the project was 90% complete and is expected to start production in 1Q 2024, after BP replaced the contractor for its subsea pipeline system.
  • "The delivery of first gas in the first quarter of 2024... depends on the execution of this workstream, which has the potential to slip into the second quarter of 2024," Kosmos Energy said.
