Trans Mountain Pipeline Targets Completion End of May: Premier of Alberta

The Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion will be complete by the end of May, with the first waterborne exports from the expanded system starting a month later according to Danielle Smith, the Premier of Alberta said on Tuesday according to Reuters.

  • Trans Mountain called for crude for line fill of Trans Mountain Expansion in late February according to Derek Evans, CEO of MEG Energy in an earnings call at the start of March.
  • Heavy sour Candain crude in Hardisty, Alberta cut its discount to WTI to its narrowest since August on calls for line fill. The discount narrowed to $15.23/bbl based on Argus assessments early last week.
  • An official Trans Mountain press release in late February said the company was targeting an “in-service date in the second quarter of 2024” for the pipeline it said.
