US TSYS SUMMARY: Treasuries have consolidated Wednesday`s Fed-fuelled gains so
far Thursday, with a slew of FOMC speakers awaited.
- The Mar 19 T-Note future is up 7.5/32 at 121-305, having traded in a range of
121-245 to 122-035.
- Market maintaining a broadly dovish tone following Wednesday's
Evans/Rosengren/Bostic dovish comments, as well as Dec FOMC minutes.
- Initial steepening post-minutes has faded somewhat, however.
- The 2-Yr yield is down 1.8bps at 2.5345%, 5-Yr is down 2.2bps at 2.5256%,
10-Yr is down 1.6bps at 2.6939%, and 30-Yr is down 0.2bps at 3.0014%.
- Overnight, Tsys benefited from statement re: the recent U.S.-China talks, with
markets inferring that no major headway was made during the 3-day sit-down.
- No fewer than six FOMC speakers today: Fed Chair Powell headlines, with
Barkin, Bullard, Evans, Kashkari & Clarida the supporting acts.
- Jobless claims (0830ET) the day`s data highlight.
