Treasury Sec Yellen To Meet Ger/Fra Counterparts Habeck And Le Maire Tues


US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will meet with German Economy Minister Robert Habeck and French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire Tuesday for discussions on the Inflation Reduction Act Tuesday.

  • A US Treasury Department official said that Europe's response to the IRA, the Green Deal Industrial Plan, would also be subject to discussions.
  • US Treasury Dept Official: "We look forward to working with our European allies on accelerating investments in green technologies. The U.S. is committed to partnering with counterparts in Europe and globally on building resilient clean energy supply chains."
  • French Ambassador to the US Phillippe Etienne said a short time ago on Twitter: "Today, we will welcome Bruno Le Maire and his German colleague Robert Habeck to Washington, D.C. for important exchanges on economic cooperation within the context of continued discussions on the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)."
  • The German embassy said that Habeck will be in the US "to promote cooperation, both economic and geopolitical."
  • Habeck said he was optimist that the dispute over ~USD$370 billion in US subsidies can be resolved soon: "We can build a green bridge across the Atlantic."
