Trump May Make Big Tech Remarks Today

WHITE HOUSE

CNBC speculating that President Donald Trump could make some televised remarks today on the subject of big tech. According to the network no decision has been made yet.

  • Trump has not delivered any public remarks since the violence that saw a pro-Trump mob storm the Capitol building on 6 January.
  • Since then, Twitter has permanently disabled the president's account, while the Parler platform - used by many Trump supporters but not the president himself - has had support from Amazon Web Services withdrawn, thereby taking it offline.
  • Should the remarks go ahead it could prove to be a swipe at social media firms, and Twitter in particular. Twitter's shares opened down significantly this morning following Trump's ban from the platform.
