MYR: Trump Tariff Headlines Sends Ringgit Higher.

  • USD/MYR opened higher at 4.3910 this morning with from yesterday’s close of 4.38 as President Trump levies threatens tariffs across multiple sectors.
  • The Ringgit has breached all major technical levels in the moves in recent days and now sits below the 20-day EMA of 4.4552, the 50-day EMA of 4.4511, the 100-day EMA of 4.4484 and the 200-day EMA of 4.4890.   
  • Bloomberg Asia Dollar Index is up +0.01% and the Bloomberg Dollar spot index is up by +0.26%.
  • USD/MYR one-month implied volatility is up at 6.80% from yesterday’s close of 6.66%  
  • Malaysia's 10-year bond yield is at 3.807%
  • Malaysia 5 yr USD CDS at 44bp (yesterday’s close 45bp, 5-year low 34bp in 2020).
