FOREX: Trump's latest comments re: China breath some life into a low liquidity
London bank holiday morning. Flows as you would expect, allowing USD/JPY to run
to fresh session highs of Y105.96, before trading back to Y105.80 last, +40 or
so pips on the day.
- Trump also touched on Iran, but the comments are a little more wishy washy.
USD/JPY bulls will look to gain a foothold above Y106.00, to allow them to focus
on Y106.74, the Aug 23 high and recent congestion area.
- AUD/USD back to neutral levels at ~$0.6750 after having a look below $0.6700
overnight, although bears failed to challenge the bottom of the recent range.
Consolidation above $0.6750 will switch focus to $0.6799 the high from Aug 21.
- USD/CNH also moves to fresh session lows of CNH7.1478, before trading back to
CNH7.1540, last 230 pips higher on the day.
- USD/TRY back below TRY5.80 after trading as high as TRY6.3953 during the
overnight flash crash which many attributed to Mrs Watanabe (Japanese retail
flows). Local manufacturing confidence data moved back into positive territory
this morning.
