TTF Sell Off Extends

NATURAL GAS

European gas is selling off further as Europe sees out the tail end of its first winter test unscathed against a backdrop of solid inventories, high LNG availability and milder weather.

  • Germany’s economy ministry said it wasn’t concerned with the pace of withdrawals and that security of supply was assured, sounding a more upbeat tone after recent pessimism around demand destruction levels.
  • Demand could ease with wind power generation forecast to increase in coming days in Britain and Germany.
  • Europe is expected to agree the gas price cap level on Monday – a price point that has spurred much debate and discontent amongst EU members in recent weeks.
