TURKEY: Turkey, Iran Summon Envoys Over Diplomatic Spat

TURKEY
  • Iran and Turkey's foreign ministries summoned their envoys after a diplomatic spat over Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's warning of Tehran against undermining Syria's stability, Reuters report. Fidan last week gave an interview to Qatar's al Jazeera in which he said Iran's foreign policy relying on militias was "dangerous" and needed to change.
  • President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev will open the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline at a ceremony in Ankara. Meanwhile, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu is expected to give statement to a prosecutor in Istanbul.
  • There are no major data releases scheduled for today, with focus on the CBRT rate decision tomorrow. Another 250bp rate cut is expected following the below-expectations CPI print for February. Our full preview of the meeting can be found here.
