Turkey’s December LNG Imports at 10-Month High

Turkey’s LNG imports rose to 1.47mn tons so far in December, up from 610,000 tons in November and the highest level since February amid higher domestic demand according to S&P Commodity Insights.

  • US LNG shipments accounted for a share of 38% so far this month, followed by Algeria wit 37% and Russia with 10%. Egypt and Nigeria contributed around 10% and 5%, respectively.
  • Natural gas demand and LNG imports are expected to further rise this month to satisfy domestic heating requirements. While cargoes are still available, trading sources said they were already seeing buying interest for January and February.
