Turkish Strait Closure Having Limited Impact on CPC Flows at Present

Turkish Straits closures because of wildfires will have limited impacts on CPC loadings at present according to Bloomberg vessel tracking.

  • Four of five tankers scheduled to load CPC Blend by Aug. 29 are now in the Black Sea, waiting to moor. The other one is waiting to pass the strait.
  • Nine tankers carrying CPC Blend are now at Sea of Marmara, waiting to cross Dardanelles Strait southbound; two tankers which just loaded CPC are still in the Black Sea.
  • The length of strait closure is not clear at present.
