Tusk Meets With Protesting Farmers, Final Q4 GDP On Radar

  • Prime Minister Donald Tusk will hold a "summit" with leaders of the ongoing farmers' protests in a bid to defuse tensions. He also announced that his government is in talks with Ukraine to temporarily close the border to international trade if the two sides fail to find a compromise solution. In the meantime, Poland will push Brussels to tighten the limits on Ukrainian agricultural imports. Separately, Ukraine's Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka said that Kyiv was prepared to curb sudden surges in exports if needed. Polish and Ukrainian officials will meet to discuss the matter on March 28.
  • The European Commission is expected to formally unblock Poland's access to EUR137bn in aid today. An RMF FM reporter said that the Commission is already "preparing a press release on the matter."
  • Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski said that the release of EU funds will boost Poland's 2025 GDP growth by 1pp. The Ministry expects the economy to expand by 3.0% Y/Y this year and almost 3.5% Y/Y next year.
  • Statistics Poland will release final GDP data for 4Q2023 at 09:00GMT/10:00CET.
