CHINA PRESS: U.S. interference in China's sovereignty is pushing the offshore
yuan lower as worried investors sell of the currency, according to Tu Yonghong,
a deputy director with the International Monetary Institute under Renmin
University. In a commentary published in Economic Daily, Tu also attributed the
recent yuan depreciation to liquidity injections by the central bank and China's
increasing trade deficits. However, Tu said the yuan is expected to stabilise as
China's economic momentum is sustainable and the trade outlook will continue to
improve.
