UK Fuel Imports from Russia at Record Zero in June: ONS

UK ONS stats out today show imports of goods from Russia were £33 million in June, down 96.6% versus the 12 months average before the February invasion.

  • In June, Britain also imported no fuel from Russia for the first time ever. Russia was the UK's largest supplier of refined oil in 2021, the ONS said.
  • The ONS attributes the fall to both UK sanctioning and self-sanctioning by businesses.
  • Trade with Russia marginally ticked higher in June versus May – driven by an increase in medical trade – exempt from sanctions.
