UK: Kirby - Biden To Discuss "Trade And Economic Prosperity" In NI Speech

White House National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby has told reporters that President Biden's speech tomorrow at Ulster University in Belfast, Northern Ireland will focus on "three pillars."

• According to Kirby, Biden will "put the Belfast Good Friday Agreement into a historical context," give a message about how the "youth generation in NI is changing the face of high-tech innovation in Northern Ireland," and "talk about trade and economic prosperity in Northern Ireland and all the opportunities that opens up between the United States and Northern Ireland."
• Kirby says that Biden will meet with all the political party leaders "all together in an engagement" and the message will be "congratulations on this anniversary and focus on trade and economics."
• The prospects of any movement towards a US-UK trade deal is low. A UK government official told Politico today: “This topic is not even being raised at any bilat level yet.”
• Biden is not scheduled to visit Stormont but Kirby said Biden has made it clear, "we'd like to see the National Assembly return."
