Ukraine Crisis Diplomatic Schedule

  • This afternoon UK PM Boris Johnson will hold a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin warning him to step away from the brink. This will be followed tomorrow by a Johnson trip to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
  • Today at 10:00ET/15:00GMT the UN Security Council will meet in New York for the first time to discuss the crisis. This is expected to be a tense affair with Ukrainian diplomats scheduled to speak. Russia may attempt to block the meeting when it commences. To do this Russia would need backing from nine of the 15 members.
  • Tomorrow US Sec of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks to discuss the recent US and NATO response to Russian security concerns. This is the key meeting and will provide information about the next steps.
