Unemployment, Consumer Confidence Data On Tap

  • Poland will report unemployment data for July and Q2, as well as August consumer confidence, at 09:00BST/10:00SAST. It is expected that the jobless rate stayed at 5.0% last month, according to a Bloomberg poll of economists. This would fall in line with the preliminary estimate from the Ministry of Family and Social Policy.
  • Parkiet reports that Poland received PLN82bn from sales of CO2 emission allowances since 2013, but not all of this revenue was used to fund energy sector modernisation. For example, over PLN23bn was spent on energy price caps and subsidising energy intensive firms.
  • Most opposition parties support scrapping the Sunday trade ban, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported.
