Unemployment Rate Unchanged at 4% in March

  • Hungary's unemployment rate was unchanged in March at 4% (Est: 4.1%) according to data released by the Central Statistics Office this morning.
  • President Katalin Novak on Thursday relieved Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi of his duties as the Chief of the Hungarian Armed Forces at the proposal of the Minister of Defence Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky. No explanation was given for his dismissal, but according to business daily Napi.hu, Ruszin-Szendi could not sufficiently adapt to Szalay-Bobrovniczky's expectations in the renewal and reorganisation of the defence forces. Ruszin-Szendi was only appointed in May 2022.
  • There are no other major economic releases scheduled today. Pope Francis will arrive in Budapest for a three-day visit.
