US Ambassador Hopeful on Congress’ F-16 Approval

  • A law passed by the Turkish parliament approving Sweden's NATO membership was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday, finalising the ratification, the Communications Directorate said.
  • “I am satisfied with the point we have reached. Congress will evaluate the F-16 issue. But I am extremely hopeful that the outcome will be positive,” Hurriyet cite the US Ambassador to Ankara as saying after Turkey approved Stockholm's NATO bid.
  • Turkey will make every effort to ensure Israel "receives appropriate punishment" for its crimes against Palestinians, President Erdogan said in a phone call with his South African counterpart Ramaphosa, according to Anadolu Ajansi. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will decide in South Africa's genocide case against Israel at around 12:00GMT/13:00CET.
  • UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron will visit Turkey and meet with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul. There are no major economic releases on the docket today. Our review of yesterday’s CBRT decision will be released later today.
