US Aug Bldg Permits Revised Down To +3.4% To 1.272 Mln Unit Rate>

--August Permits Originally Reported +5.7% To 1.30 Mln Unit Rate               
     WASHINGTON (MNI) - The number of U.S. building permits issued in 
August was revised down to an increase of up 3.4% to a 1.272 million 
unit annu rate, the Commerce Department's Bureau of the Census said 
Wednesday.          
     Permits issued were originally reported up 5.7% to a 1.3                 
million unit rate.                                                            
     The Census Bureau revises the latest building permits data on the 
18th working day of the month, three to seven days after the release of       
the preliminary estimate in the month housing starts and building 
permits report.                                                               
     Permits for single-family homes were unrevised at a decline of 1.5% 
at a 800,000 unit rate (previously down 1.5% at a 800,000 unit rate). 
Permits for multi-unit buildings were revised down to a gain of 12.9% at 
a 472,000 unit rate (previously up 19.6% at a 500,000 unit rate.)
