US Calls for Kurdistan Oil Resolution

OIL

The US has called on Ankara and Baghdad to permit the resumption of the Kurdistan Region’s oil exports through Turkey, according to Vedant Patel, US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson.

  • Patel emphasized that Washington has urged both governments to resume the flow of oil through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline, as disruptions to the global energy supply would not benefit any party.
  • He added that the Kurdistan Regional Government is in discussions with the Iraqi government to find a mutually acceptable resolution to their budget and hydrocarbon issues.
  • Around 450,000 barrels of oil per day in the Kurdistan Region has been disrupted, forcing international oil companies operating in the area to store their produce instead of transporting it through the pipeline.
