US COVID-19 Tracker – September 9

Latest COVID-19 Developments:

  • The average daily increase in cases in Florida across the past week is the lowest recorded since June 19, with the state registering an average of 2,722 new cases per day in the week ending September 8. This compares to the peak of the wave of infections in Florida, where an average of 11,870 new cases were recorded per day in the week ending July 17.
  • In Texas, which remains the second worst-hit state by overall case numbers, the average number of fatalities from COVID-19 recorded per day over the past week stood at 125 per day for the week ending September 8. This is the lowest since July 21. The average daily increase in cases across the past week stood at 3,529 per day for the week ending September 8, the lowest that metric has been recorded at since June 21.
  • September 8 marked the 33rd day in a row that Vermont did not record a single COVID-19 related fatality. The state's average daily case increase across the past week stands at just three per day for the week ending September 8.
