US General Meets IDF To Prep Defence From Potential Iranian Attack

Emanuel Fabian at the Times of Israel reporting that IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi has met with US CENTCOM chief Gen. Michael Kurilla, who arrived in Israel today to coordinate defence against a potential Iran/Hezbollah strike on Israel.

  • Fabien reports: "The IDF says the meeting focused on "security-strategic issues and joint assessments in the region, as part of the response to threats in the Middle East."
  • The National reported a short time ago that Iran and Hezbollah, "have been bolstering their presence near the occupied Golan Heights in southern Syria and are taking measures against potentially intense Israeli strikes, sources in the Syrian opposition said."
  • The National adds: "Syrian and Iraqi paramilitary forces have also taken up positions in the area since Israel killed two major figures in Tehran’s regional militia alliance last week, the Amman-based sources said."
  • Kurilla is expected to try to mobilize the same international and regional coalition, which includes US, UK, Gulf states, Egypt and Jordan, that defended Israel from an Iranian missile barrage on Apr. 13.
  • US President Joe Biden is scheduled to convene a meeting of his White House national security team at 14:15 ET 19:15 BST.
