US Gulf Output Forecast to Peak in 2025

ENERGY

US Gulf of Mexico oil and gas output is forecast to increase 17% from about 2.2m boepd this year to a record 2.6m boepd by 2025 before declining according to Wood Mackenzie.

  • The increased output reflects new platforms in the region with three of the new platforms adding 315k boepd.
  • Oil development will dominate the basin, but should coexist with carbon capture and storage (CCS) and renewables such as offshore wind and solar. CCS will “become an important part of the business activity" in the basin according to Wood Mackenzie.
