US Product Imports from India to New York Surge in Jan

OIL PRODUCTS

US imports of gasoline and diesel from India to New York are increased in January according to Kpler data.

  • Imports of gasoline and diesel to New York from India will increase to highest in nearly four years to about 89kbpd in Jan. The volume accounts for more than 40% of the region’s total imports for January up from an average of 5% last year.
  • The increase is helping to replace European product supplies which have reduced as it keeps hold of stocks ahead of the new Russian sanctions which begin on 5 Feb.
  • A cargo from India often takes two to three times longer to arrive to New York than a shipment from Europe.
  • Refined product supplies in the New York Harbour region are tight due to high US refinery outages and upcoming maintenance, and historically low inventories.
