DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last deals at C$1.3274, 5 pips softer on the day, after
adding 24 pips Thursday despite a spike lower upon the release of a WSJ report
claiming that the U.S. is considering rolling back tariffs on China, which was
subsequently denied.
- Worth highlighting the Sino-Canadian trade tensions saga continues, as
Beijing's ambassador Lu warned Ottawa against repercussions of excluding Huawei
from Canada's 5G wireless network, adding that Huawei CFO Meng, detained in
Canada, is innocent.
- Initial resistance noted at C$1.3319, which capped gains yesterday, and a
break above would open up the 50-DMA at C$1.3357. Meanwhile, bears look for a
move through yesterday's low of C$1.3249, followed by the Jan 16 low of
C$1.3235.
- Canadian CPI will hit later today, while next week's focus falls on retail
sales due Wednesday.
