DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last seen at C$1.3314, unchanged on the day, after
cratering 70 pips yesterday, as WTI rallied to fresh multi-month highs. Crude
oil was supported by worries re: global supply, inspired by escalating military
conflict in the Libyan capital, and the U.S. administration's decision to
designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard a "terrorist organisation."
- Softer than forecasted Canadian housing starts & building permits figures,
with the latter measure extending its Jan decline in Feb vs. exp. of a rebound,
failed to interrupt the rate's downward move yesterday.
- Following a close below the 100-DMA at C$1.3329 yesterday, bears look for
extending losses through the C$1.3305-C$1.3296 area, which provided support in
the first three days of April. On the topside, a recovery through the
aforementioned 100-DMA would open up yesterday's peak at C$1.3390.
- Canadian docket is rather thin during the remainder of this week, with new
housing price index coming out on Thursday.
