DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last seen at C$1.3469, 9 pips lower on the day, after
adding 61 pips on Monday. Yesterday's move was driven by risk-off flows inspired
by intensifying Sino-U.S. trade war. The pair climbed initially in today's
Asia-Pac session, but eased off thereafter, with the move aided by comments from
U.S. Pres Trump, who said that he feels that negotiations with China will be
successful.
- With the rate operating near the upper end of its recent range, bulls look for
a break above C$1.3500 before challenging the Apr 24 multi-month high of
C$1.3521. Conversely, bears look to the 100-HMA/200-HMA at C$1.3460/58, which
have remained intact today. Below here would open up the 21-DMA, located at
C$1.3433.
- Canadian CPI comes out on Wednesday, while on Thursday the BoC will publish
its Financial System Review.
