DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last sits at C$1.3357, 7 pips better off, as WTI trades
~$0.45 lower vs. settlement. This occurs after the pair added almost 50 pips
yesterday, amidst data-inspired USD strength, and continued Canadian political
headwinds/worry over relations with China.
- Initial resistance noted at the upper 1.0% 10-DMA envelope at C$1.3368 and a
break above would open up C$1.3376, which represents the upper Bollinger band
(2%). Conversely, bears keep an eye on the cloud base at C$1.3356 and a fall
below would allow them to set their sights on the Feb 14 high of C$1.3340.
- The BoC is set to deliver its latest MonPol decision today, with no change to
the policy rate expected. Elsewhere, BoC Dep Gov Patterson speaks on Thursday,
while Canadian labour mkt data comes out on Friday.
